Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

Patrice Blanchard graduated in 2018 with a bachelor degree in jazz performance while attending the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen Netherlands.

Having spent his formative in Martinique a French Caribbean Island, Patrice is at ease with many musical styles from the African diaspora, as well as pop and jazz elements gathered while living in Europe in the late teens and New York as an adult. Before hand, while living in London UK from 1991 to 1994, Patrice performed and toured with US3, Jocelyn Brown and The last poets.

Patrice moved to New York early 1994. The following year he started performing with  David Fiuczynski and the Screaming Headless Torsos with whom he traveled to Argentina. Upon meeting Peter Apfelbaum through a common friend at the Knitting factory, Patrice ended up playing with Apfelbaum’s New York Hieroglyphics for a decade, and played alongside Daphnes Prieto, Joshua Roseman, Justin Brown,and Ambrose Akinmusire. Together they recorded an album ( it is written) on act , a german label. Patrice toured with Grammy award winner Angelique Kidjo , opening for Carlos Santana for a month.Together they toured the US , Europe, Australia, and shared a bill  in Johanesburg South Africa with the late freedom fighter Myrian Makeba. In 2007, Patrice toured the US with the late Amy Winehouse. In 2008 he was invited to play in Kauai, Honolulu and big island in Hawaii, together with Bill Kreutzman, who held the drummer’s seat for the fame group the Grateful dead

Together with jazz guitarist Freddie Bryant, Patrice traveled for a month to those following African countries: Benin, Mali, Senegal and Ivory coast, as part of the jazz ambassadors program.
